Bio
György Sebök was a Hungarian classical pianist and pedagogue born in Szeged in 1922. He studied at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest and gained international recognition after moving to the United States in the 1960s. Sebök became a distinguished professor at Indiana University, where he taught for over three decades and mentored numerous acclaimed pianists. His performances and masterclasses were noted for their poetic insight and technical clarity, particularly in the works of Mozart, Schubert, and Debussy. He also recorded for labels such as Erato and Denon, and his legacy continues through the many students who carry forward his interpretive approach.
