Bio
Bad Brains formed in Washington, D.C. in 1977 and quickly became one of the most influential hardcore punk bands of the era. Originally a jazz-fusion group, they shifted to punk after discovering the Ramones and soon developed a blistering, high-speed sound that helped define the American hardcore movement. The band is noted for its Rastafarian beliefs, which informed both their lyrics and the incorporation of reggae into their catalog. Their self-titled 1982 debut album is widely regarded as a cornerstone of hardcore punk, and their live shows—marked by technical precision and intensity—earned them a lasting reputation among punk and alternative audiences.
