Bio

Dietmar Zeman is an Austrian bassoonist born in Vienna. He studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and became principal bassoonist of the Vienna Philharmonic in 1970, a position he held for over four decades. Zeman has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician, collaborating with conductors such as Leonard Bernstein and Claudio Abbado. He has recorded for Deutsche Grammophon and other labels, and taught at the Vienna Musikhochschule. His playing is noted for its clarity, technical precision, and distinctive Viennese tone.
