Bio
Leroy Sibbles is a Jamaican reggae musician, singer, and bassist born in Kingston in 1949. He first gained prominence as the lead vocalist and bassist for The Heptones, one of the most influential harmony groups of the rocksteady and early reggae eras. His smooth tenor voice and songwriting helped define the transition from rocksteady to roots reggae in the late 1960s and 1970s. Beyond The Heptones, Sibbles became a prolific session bassist at Studio One, contributing to countless classic recordings. He later pursued a solo career that spanned lovers rock, dancehall, and contemporary reggae, releasing well-regarded albums while maintaining an active presence on the international touring circuit.
