ANOHNI is a British singer, songwriter, and visual artist born in Chichester in 1971. They first gained recognition as the lead vocalist of the experimental chamber-pop ensemble Antony and the Johnsons, whose 2005 Mercury Prize-winning album I Am a Bird Now established their distinctive, emotive vocal style. Working under the name ANOHNI since 2016, they have continued to explore themes of identity, ecology, and social justice across albums such as Hopelessness and the EP Paradise. Their work blends baroque-pop orchestration with electronic textures and remains noted for its emotional intensity and lyrical depth.
