Bio
Narayan Gopal Guruwacharya (1939–1990) was a Nepalese singer, composer, and lyricist widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in modern Nepali music. Born in Kathmandu, he began his career in the 1960s and became known for his smooth baritone voice and sophisticated melodies that blended classical and contemporary styles. Over a career spanning three decades, he recorded hundreds of songs, many of which remain staples of Nepali popular music. His work helped define the “modern song” (ādhunik gīt) genre and earned him enduring popularity across Nepal and the Nepali diaspora.
