Bio
Sparklehorse was an American indie rock project led by singer-songwriter Mark Linkous. Formed in Richmond, Virginia in 1995, the band became known for its atmospheric slowcore sound and introspective lyrics. Over the course of its existence, Sparklehorse released four studio albums, blending lo-fi production with orchestral elements and experimental textures. Linkous's songwriting often explored themes of melancholy, memory, and rural life, earning the project a devoted cult following. Sparklehorse collaborated with artists such as PJ Harvey, Thom Yorke, and Danger Mouse. The project ended with Linkous's death in 2010.
