Bio

Michel Berger was a French singer-songwriter and record producer whose work defined the modern chanson and variété française sound from the 1970s onward. He composed for and with France Gall, writing the hits “Résiste,” “Ella, elle l’a,” and the rock opera “Starmania,” which became a staple of French popular culture. His own recordings, such as the albums “Michel Berger” (1974) and “Beauséjour” (1980), blended piano-driven ballads with sophisticated pop arrangements, earning him a lasting place in French music history.
