Teyana Taylor is an American singer, songwriter, actress, and dancer from Harlem, New York. She first gained national attention in 2007 after winning a talent competition on BET’s “106 & Park,” which led to a recording contract with Pharrell Williams’ Star Trak imprint. Her early work included guest appearances on tracks by artists such as Fabolous and Kanye West, and she contributed to the soundtrack for the 2012 film “Sparkle.” Taylor’s debut album, “VII,” arrived in 2014 and showcased her blend of R&B, soul, and hip-hop influences. Subsequent projects like the mixtape “The Cassette Tape” and the 2018 album “K.T.S.E.” further established her reputation for powerful vocals and choreography. In addition to music, she has appeared in films such as “Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming” and “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete,” and she is known for her work as a creative director and choreographer.
