Bio
Víkingur Ólafsson is an Icelandic pianist born in Reykjavík in 1984. He studied at the Juilliard School and quickly established an international career focused on both contemporary and classical repertoire. His recordings for Deutsche Grammophon include acclaimed albums such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Philip Glass Piano Works, and Debussy Rameau. He has collaborated with composers including Philip Glass and performed with orchestras such as the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Ólafsson is known for his clear, expressive touch and innovative programming that often juxtaposes Baroque and modern works.
