LAY (born Zhang Yixing on October 7, 1991) is a Chinese rapper, singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor from Changsha, Hunan. He first gained prominence as a member of the South Korean-Chinese boy group EXO and its sub-unit EXO-M, debuting in 2012. Beyond his group activities, LAY has established a successful solo career in both the C-pop and K-pop industries, releasing multiple studio albums and singles that blend hip-hop, R&B, and Mandopop elements. In addition to music, LAY has pursued acting, appearing in Chinese television dramas and films. He is also recognized for his dance skills, having trained extensively in various styles before his debut. LAY maintains an active presence across the Chinese and international music markets, releasing work in Mandarin, Korean, and occasionally English.
