Rob Thomas is an American singer, songwriter, and musician best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band Matchbox Twenty. Born in Landstuhl, West Germany, on February 14, 1972, he grew up in the United States and rose to prominence in the late 1990s with Matchbox Twenty's debut album Yourself or Someone Like You. Thomas has also enjoyed a successful solo career, releasing multiple albums and writing hits for other artists, including the Grammy-winning single "Smooth" with Santana.
