Drakeo the Ruler, born Darrell Caldwell on December 1, 1993, in Westmont, California, was an influential American rapper known for pioneering the "L.A. slang rap" style. He gained recognition in the mid-2010s with his distinctive flow and intricate wordplay, releasing a series of mixtapes that established him as a key figure in West Coast hip-hop. Throughout his career, Drakeo faced significant legal challenges, including a high-profile murder trial that ended in a mistrial. Despite these obstacles, he continued to release music and maintained a dedicated following. Tragically, his life was cut short when he was fatally stabbed backstage at the Once Upon a Time in LA festival on December 18, 2021, at the age of 28.
