Bio
The Mothers of Invention were an American rock band formed in 1964 by composer and guitarist Frank Zappa. Active until 1975, the group became known for its experimental approach that blended rock, jazz, classical, and avant-garde elements. Their music often featured satirical lyrics and complex arrangements, influencing the development of progressive and art rock. The band released a series of influential albums on Verve and Bizarre/Reprise, including the groundbreaking double LP Freak Out! (1966) and the conceptual We're Only in It for the Money (1967). Line-ups shifted frequently, with Zappa remaining the sole constant member. The Mothers of Invention disbanded in 1975, after which Zappa continued his solo career.
