CL is a South Korean singer, rapper, and songwriter born February 26, 1991 in Seoul. She first rose to prominence as the leader and main rapper of the girl group 2NE1, whose hits such as “Fire,” “I Am the Best,” and “Lonely” helped popularize K-pop worldwide in the late 2000s and early 2010s. After the group’s hiatus, CL launched a solo career that blends K-pop with hip-hop and EDM. Her 2015 single “Hello Bitches” and the 2021 mini-album “ALPHA” showcased her bilingual rap style and assertive persona, while collaborations with artists like Diplo, Major Lazer, and will.i.am expanded her reach beyond Korea.
