Chino Moreno is an American musician best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the alternative metal band Deftones. Born Camilo Moreno on June 20, 1973, in Sacramento, California, he co-founded the band in 1988 and has remained its frontman through multiple stylistic shifts from nu-metal to experimental rock. Beyond Deftones, Moreno has explored electronic and post-rock textures with the side project Team Sleep and contributed vocals to Crosses, a collaboration with producer Shaun Lopez. His distinctive vocal style—alternating between melodic singing and aggressive screams—has influenced a wide range of alternative and metal artists.
