Bio
Vicente Fernández Gómez was a Mexican singer, actor, and film producer born in Huentitán El Alto, Jalisco. He rose to prominence in the 1960s as one of the leading figures of ranchera and mariachi music, becoming known as “El Rey de la Ranchera.” Over a six-decade career he released more than 50 albums, starred in dozens of films, and sold tens of millions of records across Latin America and the United States. His powerful baritone and traditional repertoire helped preserve and popularize Mexican regional music worldwide. Fernández received three Grammy Awards and numerous Latin Grammy honors; his final studio album, “Un Azteca en el Azteca,” was recorded live at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca in 2016. He died in 2021, leaving a legacy carried on by his son Alejandro Fernández.
