Bio
Julian Rachlin is an Austrian violinist and violist born in Vilnius, Lithuania, who moved to Vienna at age three. He studied at the Vienna Conservatory and made his debut with the Israel Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta in 1984. Rachlin has performed as a soloist with major orchestras worldwide and served as artistic director of the Israel Chamber Orchestra. His recordings include works by Bach, Beethoven, and Shostakovich on labels such as Sony Classical. He is also active as a conductor and chamber musician, collaborating with artists including Martha Argerich and Itamar Golan.
