Staind is an American rock band formed in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1995. The group rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s with a sound that blends alternative metal, nu metal, and post-grunge elements. Fronted by vocalist Aaron Lewis and featuring guitarist Mike Mushok, bassist Johnny April, and drummer Sal Giancarelli, Staind achieved mainstream success with multi-platinum albums such as Break the Cycle and 14 Shades of Grey. Their music is characterized by introspective lyrics and dynamic shifts between heavy riffs and melodic passages.
