John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers formed in London in 1963 as the backing band for British blues pioneer John Mayall. The group became a crucial training ground for future guitar heroes, with Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and Mick Taylor each serving as lead guitarist at different points in the 1960s. Their 1966 album "Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton" is widely regarded as a landmark recording that helped define British blues-rock. The band continued releasing albums and touring for over four decades, disbanding in 2008 after Mayall decided to focus on solo work.
