Bio
Courtney Barnett is an Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist born in Sydney in 1987. She first gained attention with her 2012 EP I've Got a Friend Called Emily Ferris and the 2013 EP How to Carve a Carrot into a Rose, both self-released on her own Milk! Records label. Her debut studio album, Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit (2015), received widespread critical acclaim and was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize. Known for her deadpan delivery and observational lyrics, Barnett's work often explores everyday life, mental health, and personal relationships. Barnett has collaborated with artists including Kurt Vile, with whom she released the joint album Lotta Sea Lice in 2017. Her second solo album, Tell Me How You Really Feel (2018), and the 2021 album Things Take Time, Take Time further established her as a distinctive voice in indie rock.
