Olivia Newton-John (1948–2022) was a British-Australian singer, actress and activist whose career spanned more than five decades. Born in Cambridge, England, she moved to Melbourne, Australia, as a child and rose to fame in the early 1970s with a string of international pop and country hits. Her signature blend of pop, country and adult-contemporary styles produced multi-platinum albums such as "If You Love Me, Let Me Know" and the soundtrack to the film "Grease," in which she also starred. Newton-John’s warm soprano and crossover appeal earned her four Grammy Awards and numerous other music accolades. Beyond music, she became a prominent health advocate after her own breast-cancer diagnosis in 1992, founding the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre in Melbourne and using her platform to promote wellness and environmental causes until her death in 2022.
