Bio
James Douglas Morrison (December 8, 1943 – July 3, 1971) was an American singer, songwriter, and poet best known as the lead vocalist of the rock band the Doors. Born in Melbourne, Florida, he rose to prominence in the mid-1960s with his charismatic stage presence and poetic, often provocative lyrics. Morrison's work with the Doors helped define the psychedelic and acid rock movements, blending blues, rock, and spoken-word elements into a distinctive sound. Beyond his musical contributions, Morrison was also a published poet whose literary influences ranged from William Blake to Friedrich Nietzsche. His performances were known for their intensity and unpredictability, cementing his status as a countercultural icon. Morrison died in Paris at the age of 27, leaving behind a brief but influential career that continues to resonate in rock music and popular culture.
