Bio
Ministry is an American industrial metal band formed in Chicago in 1981. Initially rooted in synth-pop and new wave, the group shifted toward a heavier, guitar-driven sound in the late 1980s, becoming a key act in the industrial metal genre. Fronted by Al Jourgensen, Ministry is known for aggressive riffs, electronic textures, and politically charged lyrics. Their breakthrough album, The Land of Rape and Honey (1988), and subsequent releases like Psalm 69 (1992) helped define the industrial metal sound and influenced countless artists across metal and electronic music.
