Dani Filth (born Daniel Lloyd Davey, 25 July 1973) is an English singer, songwriter and lyricist best known as the frontman of the extreme-metal band Cradle of Filth. His high-pitched, theatrical vocal style has been a defining element of the group’s gothic and symphonic-metal sound since the band’s formation in Suffolk in 1991. Beyond Cradle of Filth, Filth has contributed guest vocals to numerous metal projects and maintains an active role in the band’s songwriting and conceptual direction. He is recognised for his elaborate, horror-inspired lyrics and for helping to popularise symphonic and gothic elements within extreme metal.
