Cher (born Cherilyn Sarkisian, May 20, 1946) is an American singer, actress, and television personality. She rose to fame in the 1960s as one half of the pop duo Sonny & Cher and later established a successful solo career with hits such as "If I Could Turn Back Time" and "Believe." Over six decades, she has earned recognition as the "Goddess of Pop" for her distinctive contralto voice and frequent reinvention of her public image. Beyond music, Cher has appeared in numerous films, winning an Academy Award for her performance in Moonstruck (1987). She has sold over 100 million records worldwide and remains one of the best-selling music artists of all time.
