Bio
Massive Attack are an English trip hop collective formed in Bristol in 1987. The group emerged from the city's sound-system culture and became one of the defining acts of the trip-hop genre, blending downtempo beats, atmospheric production, and socially conscious lyrics. Core members Robert "3D" Del Naja and Grant "Daddy G" Marshall have remained central to the project, with numerous guest vocalists and musicians contributing across their albums. Their debut Blue Lines (1991) and follow-up Protection (1994) established their signature sound, while later releases such as Mezzanine (1998) and 100th Window (2003) expanded their sonic palette. Massive Attack have maintained a relatively low public profile, focusing on studio work, visual art, and occasional live shows. Their influence extends beyond trip hop into electronica, alternative, and mainstream pop, and they continue to release new music and collaborate with a wide range of artists.
