Mobb Deep is an American hip hop duo from Queensbridge, New York, formed in 1993 by rappers Prodigy and Havoc. The group became known for its dark, gritty production and lyrical themes rooted in street life, gaining critical acclaim with their 1995 album The Infamous, which featured the hit single "Shook Ones (Part II)." Their follow-up, Hell on Earth (1996), further solidified their reputation in East Coast hip hop. Throughout the late 1990s and 2000s, Mobb Deep released several albums including Murda Muzik (1999) and Amerikaz Nightmare (2004), maintaining a consistent presence in hardcore hip hop.
