Bio
John Nelson (born December 6, 1941) is an American conductor recognized for his work in opera and orchestral repertoire. Born in San José, California, he has held principal positions with several ensembles and appeared regularly at major opera houses in the United States and Europe. His recordings include notable releases of Handel’s oratorios and operas, as well as works by Berlioz and other Romantic composers. Nelson has also served as artistic director of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and maintains an active schedule of guest engagements.
