Jeff Lynne is an English singer, songwriter, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist best known as the co-founder and leader of the rock band Electric Light Orchestra (ELO). Born in Shard End, Birmingham, in 1947, he began his career in the late 1960s with the Idle Race before joining Roy Wood in the Move, which evolved into ELO in 1970. As the principal creative force behind ELO, Lynne wrote and produced the band’s string of international hits throughout the 1970s and 1980s, blending rock with classical influences. Beyond ELO, Lynne has enjoyed a prolific career as a producer and collaborator, working with artists such as George Harrison, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison as a member of the Traveling Wilburys. He has also released solo material and continued to oversee ELO’s legacy through new recordings and live performances. His distinctive production style and songwriting have left a lasting impact on popular music.
