Bio
Bhupen Hazarika (1926–2011) was an Indian singer, composer, lyricist and filmmaker whose work spanned Assamese, Bengali and Hindi repertoires. Born in Tinsukia, Assam, he became known for blending folk idioms with modern orchestration, creating a distinctive sound that addressed social themes and regional identity. Over a career lasting more than six decades, Hazarika composed and performed numerous film songs and independent recordings, earning recognition as a cultural figure in Northeast India. His recordings continue to be reissued and studied for their lyrical and musical contributions to South Asian popular music.
