Norman Cook, born Quentin Leo Cook on 31 July 1963 in Bromley, England, is a British musician, DJ and record producer best known by his stage name Fatboy Slim. He first gained prominence in the 1980s as the bassist of the indie band The Housemartins before launching a solo career that helped define the big-beat genre of the late 1990s. His breakthrough album You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby (1998) spawned international hits such as “The Rockafeller Skank,” “Praise You” and “Right Here, Right Now,” establishing him as one of the era’s most recognizable electronic acts. Cook continues to perform worldwide and remains an influential figure in dance music.
