The Pharcyde is an American hip hop group formed in Los Angeles in 1989. The group is known for its jazzy, laid-back production and humorous, introspective lyrics, blending elements of jazz rap and West Coast hip hop. Their debut album Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde (1992) is widely regarded as a classic of alternative hip hop, featuring the hit single "Passin' Me By." Subsequent releases like Labcabincalifornia (1995) continued their reputation for innovative sound and wordplay, influencing a generation of artists in the genre.
