Bio

Paco de Lucía (1947–2014) was a Spanish virtuoso flamenco guitarist from Algeciras whose technical brilliance and harmonic innovations redefined the genre. He expanded flamenco’s traditional boundaries by incorporating jazz, classical, and Latin influences while retaining its rhythmic core. His landmark collaborations with singer Camarón de la Isla produced a series of influential albums that remain cornerstones of modern flamenco. Later projects such as the Paco de Lucía Sextet and recordings with jazz musicians like John McLaughlin and Al Di Meola further cemented his international stature. De Lucía’s compositions, including the widely recorded “Entre dos aguas,” and his mastery of the rumba and other palos helped bring flamenco to global audiences without diluting its Andalusian roots.
