Bio
The Boston Pops Orchestra is an American orchestra based in Boston, Massachusetts, founded in 1885 as a popular-music complement to the Boston Symphony Orchestra. It performs a wide range of repertoire, from classical standards to film scores, Broadway tunes, and contemporary pop, and is especially known for its annual Fourth of July concert at the Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade. The ensemble has been led by a succession of prominent conductors, including Arthur Fiedler (1930–1979), John Williams (1980–1993), and Keith Lockhart (1995–present).
