Bio
Blixa Bargeld is a German musician, composer, and actor best known as the founder and frontman of the experimental industrial band Einstürzende Neubauten. Born in West Berlin in 1959, he emerged from the city’s post-punk underground in the early 1980s, pioneering a raw, percussive sound that incorporated unconventional instruments and materials. His distinctive vocal style—often described as a mix of guttural shouts, whispers, and spoken word—has become a hallmark of the band’s recordings and live performances. Beyond Neubauten, Bargeld has collaborated with Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, contributing guitar and vocals on numerous albums from the mid-1980s onward. He has also composed music for theater, film, and radio, and has worked as a voice actor and sound designer. His solo projects and spoken-word performances further explore themes of language, noise, and the boundaries between music and performance art.
