Neneh Cherry is a Swedish singer-songwriter and rapper born in Stockholm in 1964. She first gained international attention in the late 1980s with her debut album Raw Like Sushi, which featured the hit single "Buffalo Stance." Cherry is known for blending hip-hop, pop, and alternative styles, and for her socially conscious lyrics. Throughout her career she has collaborated with artists such as The The, Youssou N'Dour, and Massive Attack. Subsequent albums like Homebrew and Man further established her reputation for genre-crossing innovation and distinctive vocal delivery.
