DABO, born Daisuke Ashida on January 6, 1975, in Noda, Japan, is a pioneering figure in Japanese hip-hop. Emerging in the late 1990s, he helped shape the J-rap scene with his distinctive flow and bilingual lyricism, blending English and Japanese. His early work with the group King Giddra and subsequent solo releases established him as one of the genre's most respected voices. Over a career spanning more than two decades, DABO has released numerous albums and collaborated with both domestic and international artists. Known for his smooth delivery and introspective themes, he has remained an influential presence in Japanese urban music, bridging underground credibility with mainstream appeal.
