The Mills Brothers were an American vocal quartet formed in 1928 in Piqua, Ohio. The group originally consisted of four brothers—John Jr., Herbert, Harry, and Donald—who became known for their distinctive close-harmony singing and ability to imitate instruments using only their voices. Over a career spanning more than five decades, they recorded numerous hits including "Paper Doll" and "You Always Hurt the One You Love," and collaborated with artists such as Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Armstrong. Their smooth vocal style bridged jazz, pop, and adult standards, making them one of the most influential vocal groups of the 20th century. The group continued performing with various line-ups after the deaths of John Jr. in 1936 and Harry in 1982, with Donald remaining active until his retirement in 1999.
