Mick Hucknall is an English singer-songwriter best known as the lead vocalist and founder of the soul-pop band Simply Red. Born Michael James Hucknall on 8 June 1960 in Denton, Greater Manchester, he rose to prominence in the mid-1980s with the band's debut album Picture Book and its worldwide hit "Holding Back the Years." Over a career spanning four decades, Hucknall has fronted Simply Red through multiple chart-topping albums and singles, earning acclaim for his distinctive soulful voice and songwriting. He has also pursued solo projects and collaborated with other artists while maintaining a significant presence in the British music scene.
