Bio

Liz Kenny is an Irish lutenist and early-music specialist based in London. She studied at Trinity College Dublin and the Royal College of Music, then built an international career performing and recording Renaissance and Baroque repertoire on lute, theorbo and guitar. She has appeared as soloist and continuo player with ensembles including the English Concert, the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and the Academy of Ancient Music, and has recorded extensively for Hyperion, BIS and Chandos. Her discography includes acclaimed solo albums of music by John Dowland and Francesco da Milano as well as chamber works with violinist Rachel Podger and soprano Emma Kirkby. Kenny is also active as a teacher, holding posts at the Royal Academy of Music and giving masterclasses across Europe and North America.
