Bio
Sophia George is a Jamaican singer best known for her 1985 hit "Girlie Girlie," which topped the UK reggae charts and reached the British pop Top 10. Born in Kingston in 1964, she emerged during the lovers rock era, blending sweet vocals with socially conscious lyrics over reggae and rocksteady rhythms. Her debut album "Fresh" followed the single's success, and she continued releasing music through the late 1980s and early 1990s, maintaining a presence in both Jamaican and international reggae circles. George remains recognized as one of the leading female voices of 1980s Jamaican music.
