Billy Joel is an American singer-songwriter and pianist born in the Bronx, New York, in 1949. He rose to fame in the 1970s with piano-driven pop and rock songs blending Tin Pan Alley craftsmanship with contemporary styles. Major hits include “Piano Man,” “Uptown Girl,” and “We Didn’t Start the Fire.” Joel has released 13 studio albums, earned multiple Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. He continues to perform at Madison Square Garden and remains one of the best-selling artists in U.S. history.
