Bio
Yann Tiersen is a French multi-instrumentalist and composer born in Brest, Brittany, in 1970. He is best known for his film scores, particularly the soundtrack to the 2001 film Amélie, which brought his distinctive blend of accordion, piano, and strings to international audiences. His work spans minimalist classical, folk, and experimental genres, often incorporating unconventional instruments such as the toy piano, harpsichord, and melodica. Tiersen has released numerous solo albums and collaborated with artists including Jane Birkin, Shannon Wright, and the Divine Comedy. Beyond film music, he has composed for theater, dance, and multimedia projects, maintaining a prolific career centered in France while performing worldwide.
