Bio
Verdine White is an American bassist, singer, and songwriter best known as a founding member of the band Earth, Wind & Fire. Born in Chicago in 1951, he joined the group in 1970 and played a central role in shaping its distinctive funk, soul, and R&B sound. His energetic stage presence and melodic bass lines became signature elements of the band’s performances and recordings. Beyond his work with Earth, Wind & Fire, White has contributed to numerous sessions and side projects, and he remains active as a performer and educator. He is the younger brother of Earth, Wind & Fire founder Maurice White.
