DJ Muggs is an American record producer and DJ best known as a founding member of the hip-hop group Cypress Hill. Born Lawrence Muggerud in Queens, New York, he rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s with his distinctive production style that blends heavy beats, psychedelic samples, and Latin influences. Muggs has also worked extensively as a solo artist and collaborator, releasing projects such as the Soul Assassins series and producing for artists including Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and GZA. His contributions have helped shape the sound of West Coast and underground hip hop.
