Hiatus Kaiyote is an Australian neo-soul quartet formed in Melbourne in 2011. The group is known for its intricate rhythms, lush harmonies, and genre-blending approach that fuses elements of jazz, funk, hip-hop, and psychedelic soul. Led by vocalist and guitarist Nai Palm, the band also features keyboardist Simon Mavin, bassist Paul Bender, and drummer Perrin Moss. Their music is characterized by complex time signatures, poetic lyrics, and a distinctive production style that has earned them a dedicated international following. Hiatus Kaiyote gained wider recognition after their song "Nakamarra" received a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance in 2013. They have released three studio albums to date, with their most recent work continuing to push the boundaries of contemporary soul music.
