Sharda Sinha

Bio

Sharda Sinha (1952–2024) was an Indian folk and devotional singer from Bihar, celebrated for her powerful renditions of Bhojpuri and Maithili bhajans. Over a career spanning more than four decades, she became a household name in eastern India, especially during the festival of Chhath Puja, when her devotional songs were widely broadcast and played in homes and temples. Her repertoire blended traditional folk melodies with contemporary Bhojpuri pop sensibilities, helping to popularize regional music far beyond Bihar. In addition to devotional works, she recorded numerous film songs for the Bhojiwood cinema industry, earning her the affectionate title “Bihar Kokila.”
