Sara Watkins is an American fiddler, singer, and songwriter born on June 8, 1981, in Vista, California. She first gained recognition as a founding member of the progressive bluegrass band Nickel Creek, where her fiddle playing and vocals helped define the group’s sound. After the band’s initial run, she launched a solo career that blends americana, bluegrass, and newgrass influences, releasing a series of well-received albums that showcase both traditional roots and contemporary songwriting.
