Generation X

Bio

Generation X was an English post-punk band formed in Chelsea, London, in November 1976. The group emerged from the first wave of British punk and became known for blending punk energy with pop sensibilities. Fronted by vocalist Billy Idol, the lineup also included guitarist Tony James, drummer Mark Laff, and bassist Bob Andrews. The band released two studio albums, Generation X (1978) and Valley of the Dolls (1979), before disbanding in early 1981. Their singles "Your Generation," "King Rocker," and "Dancing with Myself" remain staples of late-1970s British punk and new-wave playlists.
